Developing constitutional literacy

Within Law in Everyday Life project, project members from the University of Rijeka and the Polytechnic of Rijeka have embarked on a new scholarly adventure. Professor Sanja Barić (University of Rijeka, Faculty of Law), Sandra Debeljak, PhD (Polytechnic of Rijeka) and Maja Gligora Marković, PhD (University of Rijeka, Faculty of Medicine) have continued to deepen our understanding of constitutional literacy. After conducting a successful survey among the students of Rijeka’s higher education institutions in Spring of 2022, our researchers have gathered important insight into the students’ grasp of Croatia’s constitutional fundamentals. The survey replicated the research design deployed earlier among the faculty members of the same higher education institutions, the results of which were published in the Collected Papers of the Faculty of Law University of Rijeka (Vol. 52, No. 1, 2021, pp 43-68, available at https://hrcak.srce.hr/257725). The research regarding the students’ opinion will be incorporated into a future publication that will further the teams’ understanding of constitutional literacy and, by extension, fundamental legal literacy.
